The Winona Park and Rec department is offering rental of canoes, kayaks, liberty boats, sit-on-top kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and bicycles at Lake Park Lodge, located at the end of Main Street on East Lake. Life jackets, paddles, and bike helmets are provided.

A $5.00 membership fee covers rentals for 0ne year from date of purchase. All participants must sign a waiver. Individuals under 18 must have a guardian sign their waiver, and all individuals under 16 must have a guardian sign their waiver as well as accompany them on the lake. New Acquisitions at Minnesota Marine Art Museum

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum unveiled five new acquisitions on April 14, 2013 including “Two Trees Silhouetted Behind a Water Course,” by Mondrian, “Little Caldwell’s Island,” by Andrew Wyeth, “Rapallo, Boote,” by Kandinsky, “Correspondence,” by Robinson, and “The Warning,” by Jamie Wyeth. Trester Trolley Tours

When Lakeview Drive-in opens for the season, spring has officially arrived in Winona. Proudly Winona’s oldest restaurant, Lakeview’s carhops have been providing curb service to the people of the Greater Winona Area since 1938. Lakeview’s Root Beer is made from scratch and served in frosty glass mugs.

Congratulations to Bloedow’s little bake shop on Broadway! Last year, Minnesotan’s voted Bloedow’s the best donut shop in the state in WCCO’s Best in Minnesota contest. Recently, Saveur Magazine named our hometown donut shop one of the 50 best in the country! Just one more reason to make a trip to Winona.

SMU Open Public Ski Center

(Winona Daily News) Nestled in the back of Saint Mary’s University Leopold Hall, the Brother Jerome Rademacher Nordic Ski Center offers a warming room, bathrooms and lockers to the area’s cross-country skiers, with plans in the works to expand the facilities for both the public and SMU students. Rockwell Kent in Winona

On the hundredth anniversary of Rockwell Kent’s stay in Winona, the Winona community is proud to celebrate the artist with a week-long festival featuring exhibits of his works and other activities that illustrate his importance as an international artist. Kent came to Winona in 1912 to build Briarcombe Farms, two Georgian Revival Mansions situated on 350 acres of a dairy farm and orchards overlooking the Mississippi at the entrance to Pleasant Valley.

The celebration is the result of the efforts of many organizations and individuals. The City of Winona, the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Winona County Historical Society, Winona State University, Saint Mary’s University, and Theatre du Mississippi are proud to celebrate Rockwell Kent’s Centennial with exhibitions of his work, a book study of Moby-Dick, an original play, a film, and a symposium.
